Indian Creek staff worked together with PGA TOUR Officials and Korn Ferry players to put together a plan to enhance the competitive element of the course without alienating the everyday golfer.
The bulk of the work has gone into building new championship tee complexes. New championship tees were added on 2, 4, 7, and 9 Blackbird and 5 and 7 Grayhawk, adding up to 300 additional yards and stretching the Blackbird & Grayhawk rotation to nearly 7600 yards depending on daily setup.
In an effort to increase the difficulty of #1 Blackbird, grounds crews are narrowing up the landing area by adding a bunker on the right, and bringing in the fairway line on the left. This new bunker sits 333 yards from the championship tee box.
A new championship tee is being added on #2 Blackbird. The added distance will force players to use a driver off the tee, versus using a fairway metal to lay up short of the bunker. The more players are forced to use their driver off the tee, the more the creek line comes into play on an errant shot.
